New OC - Silhouette

(( Seriously guys, school has been crazy. I've been on my tablet like only once in nearly a month. Once. In a MONTH. I'm having some serious withdrawals over here people! But thankfully one day I just had to set my homework aside and take the day to finally draw out this girl. She's been sitting in my sketchbook for awhile now and it was finally time to bring her out. It did take me some time to get all her information together and get it just right but I think she's all good now. I've always wanted a kind of Siren OC but most Sirens are like mermaids and I didn't really want her stuck having to stay in the ocean and I couldn't find any other creature like a Siren that lived on land. So heck, I just made up my own mythical creature :3 Introducing, the Pitch! ))

Excerpt from "The Really, Really Big Book of Monsters and Creatures of Ooo"

Pitch - A feral type of creature composed of both darkness and light and a distant cousin to the Siren species. As ethereal and innocent as their first appearance may seem these creatures harbor a large amount of darkness behind their harmless guise and can be highly dangerous and even deadly. Though some just a little mischievous and may simply harass travelers that are unlucky enough to draw their attention. Much like their Siren cousins, Pitchs sing songs that cause special effects but each individual Pitch's song does something different and some Pitchs even learn more than just one song. Some Pitch's songs being more malevolent in nature than others. Their songs aren't only for mischievous purposes however but it is also how they communicate to one another through their singing, whistles and other sounds with very few of them knowing much English. Which lends to them being referred to as "Pitchs", as in tones or a type of sound. So if you find yourself in the middle of the forest and you think you hear whispering, giggling or even distant singing in amongst the trees, you may just be in the presence of a Pitch. And depending on the Pitch, it may be harmless and simply curious as to what you are and what you're doing. Or this alluringly misleading creature's song just may be the last thing that you ever hear.

Name: Silhouette (This is what her name translates into English. In her native tongue its really just a series of whistles and tones)

Age: 16

Height: 5' 4"

Personality: This certain Pitch is a bit tamer than the rest of her kind and she's not quite as aggressive. But this is merely due to her being as young as she is and just hasn't learned to be as malevolent as the rest of her kind. In fact she can be quite shy and prefers to hide away from potentially dangerous strangers rather than confront them. Though if she does feels threatened enough she won't hesitate to show her inherited predatory side and do her best to defend herself. But if she gets to know a person well enough and becomes friendly with them then her natural playful impish and somewhat mischievous side will come out. And when she befriends a person she'll refer to them as a "Pet". Not that she thinks she now owns the person but that she considers them a loyal companion like, well, a pet. She's just simply not familiar with the term "friend" since making friends isn't exactly a common practice among Pitchs.

Abilities:
Floating - This is the main means of travel for a Pitch and most never even bother learning how to walk.
Sonic screams - A basic defense tactic that all Pitchs can do. A piercing screech that can be used as an attack or just as a useful distraction to get away from tough enemies.
Enchanting singing - Silhouette is still a bit young and is still learning so her songs aren't quite as powerful as the others. But for now she knows two songs. One creates realistic illusions in front of the onlooker but the hallucination will only hold for as long as she's able to concentrate on it since doing so can quickly drain her energy. The other song that she sings creates a rare type of gem known as a Luminari Stone. She normally doesn't mention this ability however because being able to create valuable gems practically out of thin air might easily attract the attention of those who would want to take advantage of her power for their own gain.
Light manipulation - The portion of her that is made up of light she's able to control its brightness; dimming it so as to blend in better within nearby shadows or even make it brighter so as to create a blinding light around her. Though this takes up much more energy then when simply dimming her light.

Weaknesses: Although Pitchs are made up of both darkness and light they really are made up of more darkness and therefore are more nocturnal creatures. They thrive off the light of the moon but not so much from the sun. Since sunlight is much more intense than moonlight it can actually quickly drain their powers and even give them burns if they're exposed to it too long. However by wearing a specially designed stone, like the one Silhouette wears around her neck, they can move about throughout the day with no problems. Though this can be a disadvantage as well. There's always the possibilities that they may lose the stone or someone might take it away from them. Either way, being in daylight without their stone can render them completely helpless because they'd eventually lose even the energy to float, their legs being almost useless since they never walk so they'd be extremely defenseless. Their special songs can always normally get them out of a pinch though, but if they were somehow even rendered incapable of voicing their songs aloud then they would really be in quite a bind.

Extra Info:
- Silhouette has three older sisters, making her the baby of the family. Her sisters are considered the most vicious of her kind and therefore the most highly respected of the clan. Mainly out of fear than anything. Out of all the Pitchs, these three are the one you do NOT want to tangle with! The only one they are willing to show any sort of mercy towards is their baby sister, but even then they won't hesitate to put her in her place every once in awhile and show her why they are the most feared of the group.
- Silhouette knows much more english than any of the other Pitchs but her words still come out a bit broken. As long as a person doesn't use too many complicated words than she's able to understand most people pretty well.
- All Pitchs have an innate sense of curiosity and can be easily distracted by simple strange new objects, especially shiny things.
- If you get close enough to notice, though it's probably not a good idea to get too close to these creatures, Pitchs have a mouthful of fanged teeth and razor like claws that they also can use for attacking. So watch out!
- With her large ears Silhouette has exceptional hearing. But it can also be a disadvantage if there are any noises around that are too loud.
